Iranian writer Mansour Alimoradi has joined the shortlist for the BRICS Literature Award. This recognition celebrates his talent and promotes Iran’s literary culture internationally. Furthermore, the BRICS Literature Award honors authors who merge contemporary issues with traditional values.
The organizers announced the shortlist during a press conference at the H.B. Jassin Literary Documentation Center in Jakarta. Cultural officials from multiple countries attended, and participants also joined online. During the event, speakers highlighted the award’s role in fostering cooperation, cultural understanding, and shared values among BRICS nations.
The BRICS Literature Award started in November 2024 to recognize authors whose works reflect both heritage and modern challenges of member nations. Additionally, the award encourages translation and international distribution of literary works. Authors from Iran, Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the UAE, Ethiopia, Indonesia, and Egypt received initial nominations.
Mansour Alimoradi gained attention for his in-depth research on Kerman province culture. Moreover, he wrote poetry, novels, and short story collections. Over 15 years, he earned multiple domestic awards for his literary achievements.
Iran submitted three writers for the inaugural BRICS Literature Award. Besides Alimoradi, Reza Amirkhani and Majid Gheisari reached the longlist. The judges conducted a three-stage selection process, and they will announce the winner on November 27 in Khabarovsk, Russia.
Iran’s active cultural diplomacy strengthens its participation in this international event. The Iran Book and Literature House, together with the Cultural Counsellor’s Office in Russia, submitted the nominated works. Masoud Ahmadvand, head of the Cultural Center at the Iranian Embassy in Russia, serves on the board and guides its strategic decisions.
By nominating its writers, Iran aims to promote its literary culture globally. The BRICS Literature Award encourages translation, increases cultural ties, and spreads mutual understanding. Authors share histories, traditions, and stories, creating cross-cultural dialogue worldwide.
