Iran’s Department of Environment officially established November 6 as the final submission deadline for the 14th National Environmental Award. Organizing committees selected the main promotional theme, “Healthy Environment, Sustainable Future,” for this year’s national competition. Consequently, the annual program aims to stimulate practical conservation initiatives and innovative scientific solutions across the country. This initiative underscores growing national recognition of the vital link between ecological health and sustainable socioeconomic development.

The national award actively encourages public participation, technological innovation, and practical responses to pressing regional ecological challenges. Specifically, evaluation panels prioritize projects that effectively mitigate environmental pollution, limit habitat degradation, and reduce conservation expenses. Additionally, organizers plan to honor specialized initiatives focused on protecting endangered biological species and vulnerable ecosystems. Furthermore, research projects advancing public environmental education and crisis management strategies qualify directly for award consideration.

This official announcement coincides with high-level administrative efforts connecting environmental preservation directly to national security priorities. During a recent consultation meeting with environmental specialists, President Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized inter-agency collaboration across government bodies. Pezeshkian urged universities, private businesses, and civil society groups to develop scientific solutions for resource management pressures. Moreover, the administration identifies targeted youth education as an indispensable tool for transforming domestic resource consumption habits.

Concurrently, Department of Environment chief Shina Ansari reaffirmed that environmental stability remains foundational to overall national security. Ansari listed severe droughts, climate change, dust storms, and protected habitat destruction among the country’s primary threats. Furthermore, she noted that recent regional conflicts inflicted substantial damage upon civilian, cultural, and environmental infrastructure. Therefore, state institutions view the upcoming environmental award as a strategic mechanism to strengthen national ecological resilience.

As the November deadline approaches, individual researchers, academic institutions, and organizations are actively submitting competitive conservation projects. Recognizing successful local initiatives will likely foster broader public participation and cross-sector cooperation nationwide. Moving forward, environmental authorities plan to implement the winning ecological solutions across vulnerable national habitats. Ultimately, these combined efforts aim to fortify long-term environmental security while supporting sustainable national development goals.
