Direct Tehran Vienna flights will resume on Monday, restoring a vital air connection between Iran and Austria. The announcement comes after several months of suspension, signaling a major step in regional air travel. Officials emphasize that these flights will strengthen economic, tourism, and business ties between the two countries.

Ahura Mohammadi, public relations director at Imam Khomeini Airport City Company (IKAC Co.), confirmed the news during an interview with local media on Friday. He explained that Austrian Airlines will operate the first direct flight on Monday morning, November 12. The ceremony celebrating this milestone will highlight the resumption of Tehran Vienna flights and the growing cooperation between airlines.

Mohammadi further revealed that negotiations have also advanced with Lufthansa. Following a joint meeting between IKAC’s CEO and Stefan Wersemann, the manager of Lufthansa’s station in Iran, the airline plans to launch direct flights between Tehran and Frankfurt within the next two months. This expansion will complement the Tehran Vienna flights and provide additional connectivity to Europe.

Experts note that resuming direct flights can significantly impact trade and tourism. Analysts suggest that it will attract more European tourists to Iran and improve business travel options for companies on both sides. Airlines may also benefit from increased passenger demand and route profitability.

The airport authorities highlighted that operational readiness and passenger safety remain top priorities. They stressed that all necessary arrangements have been made for smooth airport operations and efficient boarding processes. Furthermore, the resumption of Tehran Vienna flights reflects a broader trend of reconnecting Iran to international air networks.

Industry observers believe this move signals growing confidence in Iran’s aviation market. As airline schedules expand, both leisure and corporate travel are expected to increase. Moreover, the flights could foster cultural exchanges and strengthen diplomatic relations between Tehran and European capitals.

Looking ahead, IKAC officials confirmed that they will continue coordinating with international airlines to increase flight frequency and launch new destinations. They encourage travelers to book in advance as seats are likely to fill quickly due to high demand. Tehran Vienna flights will officially return on Monday, marking a critical step in reviving direct international air connections and strengthening regional mobility.
