Rouhollah Rostami to Carry Iran’s Flag at Asian Para Games

Iran selected two-time Paralympic gold medalist Rouhollah Rostami as its opening ceremony flag bearer on Sunday. National Paralympic Committee President Ghafoor Kargari officially announced the decision ahead of the Asian Para Games. Consequently, the celebrated para powerlifting champion will lead the national sports delegation into the Nagoya stadium.

The prominent sporting event takes place in Nagoya, Japan, running specifically from October 18 to 24. Furthermore, officials selected distinguished para archer Somayeh Rahimi to carry the national flag during closing festivities. Together, these two world-class athletes represent the competitive spirit and dedication of Iran’s parasports program.

Iran will send a robust delegation comprising one hundred sixty-six total athletes and team officials. Specifically, the roster includes one hundred four male competitors alongside sixty-two female athletes in Nagoya. Moreover, team members will compete aggressively across fifteen distinct sporting disciplines throughout the six-day event.

The delegation appointed nine-year-old para-athlete Ana Jahangard from Minab as the team’s honorary spiritual leader.
