Iran condemns US actions for intensifying economic sanctions against Cuba. The measures, it says, are antihuman and illegal, causing severe suffering for the Cuban people. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei expressed Tehran’s strong solidarity with the Cuban government and citizens. He highlighted the human and material consequences of more than six decades of US-imposed economic blockade. According to Baghaei, the sanctions have hindered Cuba’s economic development and violated the basic human rights of ordinary Cubans.

“These sanctions clearly violate the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law,” Baghaei said. He added that US actions undermine the Cuban people’s right to self-determination and show disrespect for national sovereignty. He also described the blockade as illegal interference in Cuba’s internal affairs, stressing its direct impact on ordinary citizens.

The spokesman criticized the United States for its long-standing coercive measures. He said the economic sanctions against Cuba amount to systematic violations of international norms and human rights. “The US government must be held accountable for its repeated infringements, which have caused severe hardship for the Cuban population,” Baghaei said, calling the actions tantamount to crimes against humanity.

Baghaei’s remarks underscore that Iran condemns US unilateral measures. He reaffirmed Tehran’s consistent support for Cuba. The spokesman noted that the sanctions restrict Cuba’s access to essential goods, healthcare, and other critical resources. This worsens the plight of ordinary citizens and limits the country’s development opportunities.

He also urged the international community to recognize the illegality of these sanctions. Baghaei called for the protection of Cuba’s sovereignty and the rights of its people. Concluding his statement, he said Iran condemns US coercion and will continue to stand with Cuba against foreign pressure and economic restrictions that undermine human rights and international law.
