Tehran recently hosted the 29th National Export Day at the Summit Conference Hall. President Masoud Pezeshkian joined key ministers and business leaders. Together, they emphasized the importance of non-oil exports in strengthening the national economy. At the event, Mohammad-Ali Dehghan Dehnavi, head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPO), presented the organization’s main strategies. He listed removing trade barriers, expanding free trade, and promoting export-oriented policies.

Moreover, he announced that the TPO revived the Supreme Export Council and the Barter Committee to support trade. He added that exporters play a central role in connecting Iran to global markets. Dehghan Dehnavi highlighted a record $58 billion in exports last year, with a 15.6% increase. However, early this year, exports dropped due to steel and petrochemical price issues and regional conflict.

Despite setbacks, exporters reached $26 billion by late September. Consequently, trade remained on par with last year’s figures. Officials now expect a return to positive growth by year-end. The TPO introduced several support measures to improve export conditions. For example, they streamlined trade card issuance and resolved import challenges with Iran Customs. Additionally, they uploaded updated trade regulations to the Comprehensive Trade System.

The organization also launched nine new export terminals across the country. It reactivated Export Management Companies to help small businesses enter international markets. Meanwhile, it pursued new trade agreements with neighbors, Africa, and Eurasia. Interestingly, Iran also introduced cryptocurrency in trade. This move improves flexibility and helps traders bypass financial restrictions. As a result, more exporters can access international buyers.

The event concluded with an awards ceremony. The TPO recognized 46 top exporters from a pool of 500 evaluated individuals. These awards reflected the country’s growing support for non-oil exports and long-term economic vision. Overall, the ceremony showcased Iran’s progress, policy direction, and commitment to expanding non-oil exports globally.
