Iran’s senior clerics have praised new leader Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei following his election as Iran’s supreme leader. Their statements emphasized unity, support for the revolution, and the continuation of the country’s religious and political traditions. Moreover, they highlighted the importance of national cohesion during this critical period. The Assembly of Experts elected Mojtaba Khamenei as the third supreme leader after the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Consequently, the decision came at a time of regional tensions and ongoing conflicts, which required stable leadership. Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi called the Assembly’s action timely. He said it fulfilled an important religious and legal duty. Furthermore, he urged citizens and officials to rally behind the new leader and maintain cohesion. He also expressed condolences for the late leader and recently martyred military figures.

Similarly, Grand Ayatollah Jafar Subhani praised the decision as commendable. He wished the new leader success in serving the country, its religion, and its people. In addition, Subhani stressed that strong leadership continuity is essential for national stability. Grand Ayatollah Noori Hamadani congratulated the nation while highlighting the Assembly’s careful selection process. He stated that Mojtaba Khamenei possesses courage, wisdom, piety, and a deep commitment to the late Imam Khomeini’s principles.

Moreover, Hamadani urged all citizens and officials to follow Velayat-e Faqih and fully support the new leader. Ayatollah Seyyed Ali al-Sistani also echoed these sentiments. He praised the late leader and expressed hope that Mojtaba Khamenei would protect national unity and resist external threats. Likewise, clerics such as Ayatollah Javadi Amoli, Ayatollah Mazahari, and Ayatollah Shuberi Zanjani voiced support. They emphasized justice, spiritual leadership, and the preservation of revolutionary values.

Analysts say this clerical support strengthens the new leader’s position. Therefore, it ensures continuity in Iran’s religious and political hierarchy. Additionally, it signals to the public that the Islamic Republic remains united despite recent crises. Observers note that the new leader has not appeared publicly since the election, which has sparked some speculation.

Nevertheless, officials confirm he is actively guiding the nation and performing his leadership duties. Looking ahead, clerical backing may help Mojtaba Khamenei consolidate authority. Furthermore, it may maintain internal stability and help him navigate regional challenges. Overall, this unified support underscores the enduring role of religious authority in Iran and the country’s commitment to the principles of the Islamic Revolution.
