Iran-China tensions intensified after a high-level diplomatic exchange addressed rising regional instability. Notably, Abbas Araghchi spoke with Wang Yi. The discussion came on day 26 of the ongoing hostilities affecting regional security. According to Araghchi, attacks began on February 28 and targeted civilian and defense infrastructure. Moreover, he blamed Washington and Tel Aviv for escalating instability across the region. As a result, he stressed that Iran-China tensions reflect broader geopolitical strain in the Persian Gulf.

He argued the council ignored the main actors behind the conflict. Instead, he said the resolution unfairly condemned Iran’s defensive actions.
Recently, the council addressed retaliatory strikes on U.S.-linked facilities. In particular, these sites operate in several Persian Gulf states. Thus, Iran argued these locations enabled attacks on its territory. Meanwhile, Araghchi urged China and Russia to oppose what he called political misuse of the council.
