Iran ceasefire has been declared after Tehran and Washington reached a landmark agreement, halting hostilities temporarily. The announcement marks a critical step toward regional stability after more than 40 days of conflict.

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke for the Supreme National Security Council, saying the country will stop its defensive strikes if other nations halt unprovoked attacks. He emphasized that Iran acts to protect its national security while seeking to reduce tensions. The ceasefire allows safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks. Ships can navigate the strategic waterway under coordination with Iran’s Armed Forces, while authorities oversee technical and security considerations. This measure protects both international trade and regional stability.

Diplomatic efforts by Pakistan helped push both sides toward negotiation. The United States submitted a 15-point proposal, while Iran advanced a 10-point plan. President Donald Trump publicly agreed to suspend attacks on Iran for two weeks, calling it a double-sided ceasefire. Araghchi thanked Islamabad for facilitating dialogue and easing tensions. He also stressed that the ceasefire demonstrates Iran’s ability to achieve its strategic goals without compromising defense. The Supreme National Security Council hailed the agreement as a historic and decisive victory over Washington and its allies.

The 40-day conflict disrupted civilian, industrial, and energy infrastructure in the region. Analysts expect the ceasefire to allow humanitarian access, stabilize energy markets, and reduce the risk of escalation. They suggest both sides can use this period to negotiate a longer-term resolution. Experts note that the Iran ceasefire shows the power of multilateral diplomacy in resolving regional crises. They caution that both sides must maintain compliance to prevent renewed hostilities. Observers also encourage continued dialogue to address broader political and security challenges.

Tehran and Washington will focus on enforcing the ceasefire, monitoring each other’s actions, and exploring opportunities for a permanent resolution. Officials may finalize diplomatic agreements and rebuild trust in the region. Iran ceasefire now offers a temporary window for peace and cooperation, highlighting how negotiation can replace conflict.
