Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Presents Workable Framework to End War During Official Visit to Pakistan

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says he therefore presented a workable framework to end the US-Israeli war. He consequently shared this plan with Pakistani mediators in Islamabad. This top diplomat accordingly called his visit very fruitful. Therefore, this workable framework to end hostilities could indeed break the current stalemate.

Araghchi made this announcement on Saturday, however. He had just wrapped up a day-long visit to Pakistan, nevertheless. The Iranian foreign minister thus led a diplomatic delegation there. Several senior Pakistani officials subsequently met with him. These included Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, for instance. Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir also attended, likewise. General Munir plays a key mediation role, consequently.

Araghchi therefore thanked Pakistan for its mediation efforts. Pakistan had helped broker an April 8 ceasefire, after all. That truce accordingly occurred between Tehran and Washington. Araghchi then laid out Iran’s principled positions in detail. Specifically, he discussed the state of the truce at length. A complete end to the imposed war was his other focus, furthermore. Consequently, this workable framework to end the war represents Iran’s core stance.

Prime Minister Sharif praised the meeting afterwards, in fact. He consequently called it the most warm and cordial exchange. Both sides thus discussed regional security matters extensively. Bilateral relations also came up for discussion, for example. Sharif said he appreciated Iran’s continued engagement accordingly. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to serve as a sincere facilitator, therefore.

Following Araghchi’s departure, Sharif held a phone call nevertheless. He then spoke with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian directly. The two leaders thus discussed the evolving regional situation at length. President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Sharif consequently coordinated their positions. Pakistan remains ready to advance durable peace, accordingly.

Araghchi left Islamabad for Muscat on Saturday evening, subsequently. He then arrived in the Omani capital afterwards. Oman thus represents the second leg of his three-nation tour. He will eventually visit Moscow at the end, however. Russia is also a key partner in these efforts, likewise.

Before his trip, Araghchi posted his intentions clearly, for instance. He said the timely tour would coordinate with partners accordingly. Regional developments therefore required consultation as well. He wrote that neighbors remain Iran’s priority, after all. Pakistan consequently holds significant diplomatic weight.

The United States and Israel started this war on February 28, unfortunately. They then assassinated Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Nuclear facilities and schools also suffered strikes, for example. Hospitals and civilian infrastructure took damage too, likewise. Iran’s Armed Forces nevertheless responded with 100 retaliatory strikes. These strikes occurred under Operation True Promise 4, consequently. Iran thus launched ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Drones also targeted American bases and Israeli positions, furthermore.

On April 8, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council announced a breakthrough accordingly. The U.S. then accepted Iran’s 10-point proposal. Pakistan subsequently brokered a temporary ceasefire. Senior negotiators later held 21 hours of talks, however. Those talks occurred in Islamabad on April 11, indeed. They did not yield an agreement, nevertheless. Iranian officials blamed US excessive demands, therefore. Washington also kept shifting its positions, likewise.

President Donald Trump extended the truce unilaterally, nevertheless. He said his administration would wait for an Iranian proposal accordingly. Tehran refuses to negotiate under threats, however. Iranian authorities cite two main obstacles, for instance. Washington continues to make excessive demands, first of all. The U.S. naval blockade remains active, secondly. Both impediments block efforts to end the war, consequently.

After Araghchi left for Muscat, Trump canceled a U.S. trip subsequently. He said his representatives would not go to Islamabad, therefore. Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would have met mediators, in fact. Trump wrote that too much time wasted on traveling, nevertheless. Tehran previously said no meeting was planned anyway, however. Araghchi stated clearly that Iran had no such plan, accordingly.

The coming days will test diplomatic seriousness, indeed. Araghchi will continue his tour in Oman, subsequently. He will then travel to Moscow for consultations, after all. Pakistan remains ready to facilitate more talks, nevertheless. The U.S. must show genuine willingness, however. Progress seems unlikely without lifting the blockade, therefore. Iran has presented its workable framework to end the war, consequently. Washington must now respond without pressure or threats, accordingly.
