The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament recently presented the core legislative strategy for the Twelfth Assembly during an official opening address. Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf explicitly stated that the strategic guidance of the Supreme Leader serves as the primary roadmap for lawmakers. Consequently, parliamentarians must align their future legislative efforts with these specific guidelines to address domestic economic challenges. This address marked the formal commencement of the third operational year for the current legislative body in Tehran.

The legislative leader emphasized the critical importance of constructive interaction between the Parliament and the executive branch of government. However, Ghalibaf simultaneously maintained that the legislature must preserve its constitutional independence during these collaborative political processes. Lawmakers intend to evaluate government proposals strictly based on measurable outcomes rather than relying on implicit political agreements. Therefore, the Parliament plans to avoid destructive political conflicts while holding government ministers accountable for their economic performance.

The recent parliamentary session was conducted in a hybrid format to ensure maximum participation from newly elected representatives. Specifically, 187 lawmakers joined the legislative session through a secure online broadcasting platform, while 14 representatives attended the parliamentary chamber in person to complete the mandatory leadership swearing-in ceremonies. These attendance figures reflect a modern administrative approach to managing large legislative assemblies during transitional political periods.

Regarding international relations, the parliamentary Speaker reaffirmed a cautious approach toward foreign diplomatic negotiations and economic treaties. He explicitly declared that Iranian lawmakers will refuse to ratify any international agreements without verifiable guarantees. Furthermore, the legislature demands concrete evidence that foreign entities respect the economic rights of the domestic population. This rigid stance reflects ongoing geopolitical tensions and historical disputes surrounding international nuclear agreements and economic sanctions.

Economic productivity and tangible results represent the primary benchmarks for evaluating future legislative success in the country. The Speaker noted that citizens require visible solutions to persistent inflation and employment challenges across various sectors. Accordingly, parliamentary committees must prioritize drafting laws that directly stimulate domestic manufacturing and stabilize local markets. Analysts expect the Twelfth Parliament to face intense public scrutiny regarding these critical economic commitments.
