The Iranian junior freestyle wrestling team captured the continental title this weekend during a dominant performance at the Asian Championship in Da Nang, Vietnam. This victory closely follows a separate championship win by the nation’s junior Greco-Roman squad last week at the same venue. Consequently, the consecutive victories establish the country as the absolute premier force in youth wrestling across the Asian continent.

Wrestlers from the Islamic Republic showcased superior technical skills throughout the two-day tournament, which took place on Saturday and Sunday. The athletic delegation accumulated a total of one hundred seventy-eight points to secure the top spot. Meanwhile, the Japanese team earned second place with one hundred sixty-five points after a fierce competitive battle. India finished the event in third place with one hundred fifty-three points, while Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan followed closely behind.

Iranian competitors achieved their team victory by capturing four individual gold medals across various weight divisions. For instance, Mehdi Damirchli outclassed his international opponents to win the gold medal in the forty-five kilogram category. Additionally, Benyamin Ashteh defeated his final challenger to secure the top prize in the fifty-one kilogram division. Arman Elahi continued this winning streak by capturing the fifty-five kilogram gold medal through aggressive technical maneuvers. Finally, Amir Ali Ferasati completed the gold medal haul by dominating the eighty kilogram weight class.

Beyond the four gold medals, the championship roster featured several other highly successful podium placements for the team. Amir Ali Ragheb performed admirably to earn a silver medal in the forty-eight kilogram weight bracket. Similarly, Amir Hossein Ismail secured a second-place silver medal finish in the heavy one hundred ten kilogram category. The squad also added two bronze medals to their overall count through strong consolation bracket performances. Specifically, Mohammad Taha Ghanjeh won bronze at sixty kilograms, and Amir Abbas Lotfinejad took bronze at sixty-five kilograms.

This collective athletic achievement highlights the effective development programs managed by the Iranian Wrestling Federation over recent years. Sports analysts believe these junior wrestling champions represent the future core of the nation’s Olympic wrestling program. Furthermore, the victory demonstrates the deep talent pool available within the country’s grassroots wrestling academies and regional training centers. National coaches will now prepare these young athletes for upcoming international events, including the World Championships later this year.
