Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi held a critical telephone conversation with European Union foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas on Thursday. During the discussion, Araghchi sharply criticized the recent U.S. strikes on Iran and evaluated the escalating geopolitical tensions.

The Iranian diplomat categorized the American military actions as a flagrant violation of both international law and the United Nations Charter. Consequently, Araghchi asserted that these aggressive measures effectively nullified the existing ceasefire agreements in the region. Furthermore, he explicitly stated that Washington must bear full responsibility for any dangerous consequences resulting from these operations.

Beyond his criticism of Washington, Araghchi expressed deep frustration regarding the widespread silence from other United Nations member states. He warned that global passivity toward such military actions would inevitably trigger a severe deterioration of international security. Therefore, Iran urges the international community to abandon its neutral stance and actively condemn these unilateral actions.

This high-level diplomatic communication follows a series of strategic U.S. strikes on Iran targets over the recent weeks. While American officials defend these operations as necessary deterrents, regional analysts warn about a broader Middle Eastern conflict. This escalating friction threatens global energy markets and complicates ongoing diplomatic efforts between European nations and Tehran.

Looking forward, European Union officials intend to review their diplomatic approach toward maintaining regional stability. Meanwhile, international observers expect Iran to seek further diplomatic support from non-Western allies in the coming days. The international community now watches closely to see if this diplomatic friction translates into further military escalation.
