Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf declared a major political victory following a newly signed regional peace agreement. He asserted that the accord forces Western powers to recognize Tehran’s regional coalition. Ghalibaf delivered these remarks during a high-profile diplomatic meeting with Yemeni Vice President Mohammed Al-Nuaimi on Sunday. The discussions coincided with the official farewell ceremonies for the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

According to Ghalibaf, the diplomatic accord represents a major shift in Middle Eastern geopolitical dynamics. He argued that the United States and Israel had to acknowledge the Axis of Resistance practically. Consequently, the Iranian government views the development as a significant military and political triumph. The speaker also stressed that effective diplomacy always requires continuous and robust military readiness. He warned that any perception of weakness would immediately invite foreign military aggression from adversaries.

The political remarks specifically reference the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding which officials signed on June 18, 2026. This extensive fourteen-point agreement effectively concluded a devastating forty-day military conflict in the region. The hostilities initially erupted on February 28 after a series of escalating cross-border skirmishes. Pakistan successfully brokered the final deal after intense diplomatic negotiations between the warring international factions.

The comprehensive treaty mandates an immediate and permanent cessation of all hostile military operations. Furthermore, the ceasefire explicitly covers active combat zones across Lebanon and the wider region. The agreement additionally forces the United States to dismantle its strict naval blockade. Western authorities must also release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian financial assets globally. Finally, maritime authorities will fully reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz to international shipping.

During the bilateral meeting, Ghalibaf highly praised the ongoing military contributions of Yemeni forces. He noted that the Ansarullah movement consistently defended allied interests in Gaza and Lebanon. The speaker then emphasized the immense economic leverage that Islamic nations collectively possess today. He reminded the delegation that regional powers control over seventy percent of global maritime trade. This trade flows directly through the Strait of Hormuz, the Suez Canal, and Bab al-Mandab.

Vice President Al-Nuaimi reaffirmed Yemen’s absolute solidarity with the Iranian defensive strategy during the talks. He stated that the recent conflict provided valuable strategic lessons for the entire resistance coalition. Al-Nuaimi also confirmed that Yemen remains fully prepared for future diplomatic cooperation with regional neighbors. However, the Yemeni military maintains complete readiness for defensive operations if peaceful diplomacy fails. International analysts expect the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding to reshape security policies across the Middle East.
