Iranian delegates actively promoted gender equality initiatives during a continental sports gathering in Taipei this week. Furthermore, representatives from 25 Asian nations gathered to discuss future opportunities for female Paralympic athletes. Consequently, the two-day convention focused on expanding access to sports for women with disabilities across Asia.

Maryam Kazemipour led the Iranian delegation alongside Mojgan Nasiri, vice president of the national sports federation, on Sunday. Both officials shared administrative strategies for sustainable sports development during several workshop sessions. Additionally, delegates highlighted how the Iranian Women Paralympic Leadership Seminar has strengthened regional education and leadership programs.

The Iranian delegation also held several productive bilateral meetings with international Paralympic officials on the sidelines of the event. They met with leaders of the Asian Paralympic Committee, European Paralympic Committee President Rudi Van den Abbeele, and representatives from Japan, Jordan, Malaysia, Singapore, and several other Asian countries.

The discussions focused on expanding educational workshops through Iran’s regional Centre of Excellence. Furthermore, Iranian officials outlined strategies for maintaining sports infrastructure during periods of national conflict. They also presented recovery plans designed to preserve athletes’ training schedules during times of crisis.

Participants also discussed preparations for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games. Iranian officials said they are evaluating logistics and organizing specialized training camps for elite female athletes. Consequently, national sports federations hope to improve medal performances as women’s participation in para sports continues to grow across Asia.

Sports experts noted that stronger regional cooperation helps empower women with disabilities through greater access to athletic opportunities. Therefore, leaders of international Paralympic organizations view inclusive sports as an essential part of social development. In addition, continued cooperation among member nations supports long-term leadership opportunities for women in sports administration.

Iran’s participation in the seminar reflects its ongoing commitment to expanding opportunities for women in Asian para sports. Accordingly, Asian Paralympic officials plan to organize additional educational forums to support emerging female sports leaders. Looking ahead, participating countries will implement shared training programs to prepare athletes for future international competitions.

Future continental conferences will assess progress in increasing women’s representation in sports leadership across regional athletic organizations. Delegates also agreed to establish joint research networks to monitor athletic development and participation. As a result, regional sports organizations will continue tracking participation rates ahead of upcoming international para sports events.
