Iran has condemned recent Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon, accusing Israel of violating Lebanese sovereignty and escalating regional tensions.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei criticized the strikes and expressed solidarity with Lebanon. He said the attacks caused deaths, injuries, infrastructure damage, and destruction of civilian homes.
According to Baghaei, Israel continues to occupy Lebanese territory while repeatedly violating Lebanon’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty. He also criticized international institutions for failing to prevent further Israeli military actions.
Baghaei blamed the United Nations Security Council for what he described as continued silence. He argued that such inaction encourages further Israeli military operations across the region.
The Iranian spokesman accused the United States of supporting Israel’s actions. He described Washington as a partner in what Tehran considers Israeli violations across Lebanon and other regional areas.
Baghaei also praised Lebanese civilians and groups for what he called their continued resistance. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity.
The latest tensions follow an Israeli airstrike near Mansouri in southern Lebanon on Monday. Israeli warplanes reportedly targeted areas near the town, marking another incident during an ongoing ceasefire.
The strike has raised further concerns about the stability of the ceasefire and the possibility of renewed fighting. Moreover, continued military activity could increase pressure on Lebanon’s already fragile security and economic environment.
Southern Lebanon has remained particularly sensitive because of repeated military confrontations between Israel and Hezbollah. Therefore, any new strikes could create additional risks for civilians and infrastructure.
Iran’s latest statement also highlights the broader diplomatic divide surrounding Lebanon’s security situation. Tehran continues to oppose Israeli military operations while supporting Lebanon’s efforts to protect its sovereignty.
At the same time, international diplomatic pressure could become increasingly important if ceasefire violations continue. Future developments will likely depend on whether regional and international actors can prevent further escalation.
