Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian announced during a live television broadcast on Friday evening that the third-tier gasoline price will double from 5,000 tomans to 10,000 tomans following inter-agency consultations. However, the president firmly rejected public speculation about astronomical increases in fuel prices across the board. Furthermore, he assured citizens that the adjusted third-tier rate would not exceed the established ceiling of 10,000 tomans once implemented. Consequently, this domestic policy shift reflects escalating fiscal pressure and severe wartime energy supply constraints.

The president did not set an exact implementation date for the planned fuel price adjustment. During his address, Pezeshkian linked current energy shortages directly to ongoing conflict conditions and declining state revenues. Moreover, active maritime blockades have severely disrupted normal import routes for basic consumer goods and energy supplies. Therefore, the executive leadership continues to evaluate multiple economic strategies to minimize the social impact while preserving basic fiscal stability.

Beyond domestic economic measures, Pezeshkian detailed strategic diplomatic initiatives regarding the critical Strait of Hormuz transit route. Specifically, the administration prepared a comprehensive navigation roadmap in coordination with military forces and diplomatic negotiation teams. Additionally, neighboring Oman endorsed the transit proposal after relevant authorities incorporated several preliminary technical observations. This operational framework aligns directly with security parameters established under the recent Islamabad memorandum.

In exchange for maritime access, Tehran expects specific reciprocal concessions from international adversaries, particularly the United States. Furthermore, the Iranian administration demands the complete lifting of naval blockades, sanctions relief, and the unfreezing of blocked state assets. Iranian leadership also called on Washington to compel Israel to halt ongoing military operations across Lebanon. Defense officials noted that 13 Supreme National Security Council members had previously approved the Islamabad agreement by a 12-to-1 vote.

Pezeshkian defended the Islamabad agreement as a net victory that primarily binds foreign counterparts to explicit obligations. Moving forward, the Iranian administration plans to prioritize regional diplomatic engagement to resolve lingering security disputes. Furthermore, establishing a common language with neighboring nations remains a central goal for stabilizing regional commerce. Consequently, domestic observers will monitor how these combined economic adjustments and diplomatic maneuvers unfold across regional energy markets.
