Tehran commuters can now view a new cultural display during their daily travels through Mirdamad Metro Station. The Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts launched the Eagles Castle photo exhibition to showcase ancient Iranian fortifications. Officials organized the event in cooperation with the Tehran Urban and Suburban Railway Operation Company to celebrate Qazvin Day. Furthermore, the event honors the recent inscription of Alamut Castle and Related Fortifications as UNESCO World Heritage sites.

The public gallery presents twenty selected photographs of the historic Alamut and Lambsar castles from strategic vantage points. Professional media photographers captured these images from ground-level perspectives and high aerial angles to emphasize key details. Consequently, the display highlights the complex architecture and natural landscapes of these medieval mountain strongholds for everyday commuters.

Organizers deliberately chose a high-traffic transit hub to bring historical appreciation directly into people’s daily routines. Therefore, travelers can encounter rich regional heritage outside traditional museum walls as they move across the capital city. Project managers plan to move the mobile collection to other designated transit stations in the coming days.

The broad UNESCO listing includes several interconnected strongholds, such as Navizarshah, Shams-Kelaye, Qostinlar, Shirkuh, and Ilan. Between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries, these mountain outposts operated together as a synchronized administrative network. Moreover, ancient builders expertly integrated natural cliffs into their defensive planning to protect the regional population from invasion.

Cultural heritage representatives emphasize that public transit displays can significantly enhance local historical awareness among urban residents. Urban planners expect this initiative to boost domestic tourism in the scenic Qazvin province over time. Additionally, the UNESCO designation generates global attention for Iran’s historical mountain landscapes and ongoing preservation projects. Authorities will continue expanding similar public art projects across the urban transit network in the coming months.
