The Secretariat of Iran’s Ninth Resistance International Film Festival has issued an official call for research papers. Organizers have invited academics, filmmakers, and cultural scholars to contribute to an upcoming international academic conference. The gathering will examine the theoretical foundations and practical applications of anti-hegemonic storytelling across global media.

Conference organizers describe resistance cinema as a comprehensive cultural discourse rather than simply a film genre. Participants will examine artistic representations of justice, liberation movements, and opposition to imperialist structures around the world. Researchers will also explore how cinema can provide alternatives to narratives promoted by dominant Western powers.

Organizers have based the conference’s theoretical framework on Islamic discourse and the anti-colonial ideals associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolution. Academic presentations will examine philosophical foundations, aesthetic forms, and cultural memory within narratives from the Islamic world. Panels will also address Iran’s Sacred Defense cinema and the challenges facing modern digital media.

The festival welcomes research contributions from fields including sociology, media studies, political science, and philosophy. Interested scholars and filmmakers must submit analytical papers to the conference secretariat by September 11. Peer-review committees will evaluate the submissions before selecting papers for publication in the official conference proceedings.

Organizers aim to develop indigenous storytelling models that represent historical struggles against global domination. By connecting academic research with practical film production, the initiative seeks to expand scholarly literature on resistance art and cinema. The conference also reinforces Iran’s role in promoting international discussions on resistance cinema and social justice.
