Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei warned that Tehran will take decisive countermeasures if the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors adopts a European draft resolution. Consequently, the warning directly targets ongoing efforts by Western powers to refer Iran’s nuclear file back to the United Nations Security Council.

Three European countries, alongside the United States, drafted the contentious resolution. The proposal demands immediate international inspector access to Iranian nuclear facilities. Furthermore, Baghaei described the draft as an irrational political maneuver designed to increase diplomatic pressure on Tehran.

The official emphasized that recent American and Israeli military strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities have blocked routine technical inspections. Consequently, physical safety risks and infrastructure damage currently prevent international inspectors from accessing affected facilities under standard verification procedures.

Baghaei asserted that Western efforts to seek a Security Council referral contradict earlier claims about activating the snapback mechanism. Therefore, Tehran argues that the latest diplomatic pressure supports the legal positions consistently maintained by Iran, China, and Russia.

The spokesperson also criticized Western powers for repeatedly turning to the IAEA when facing broader geopolitical challenges. Additionally, he warned European leaders against repeating what he described as a failed historical approach that could further damage regional diplomatic stability.

Despite continued external pressure, Iran maintains that diplomatic negotiations remain possible if Western countries respect existing international agreements. Moving forward, Tehran warns that any resolution against Iran will trigger proportionate responses through technical and diplomatic channels.
