Iran Defense Ministry caretaker Majid Ebn-ol-Reza asserted that the country’s armed forces possess the technical capabilities to target United States naval warships. Consequently, the high-level military statement marks a sharp escalation in rhetoric between Iranian defense officials and Washington.

Iranian authorities claimed that regional forces recently deployed anti-ship weapons against two major American military vessels in the Persian Gulf. Furthermore, Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei confirmed successful testing of advanced domestically produced anti-ship missile systems.

Rezaei stated that military units conducted the operational test near American naval platforms during recent maritime engagements. Therefore, Iranian strategic command considers the exercises an important demonstration of its defensive and deterrence capabilities.

Meanwhile, United States Central Command issued a response addressing maritime threats through official military communication channels. Specifically, American military officials warned that attacks against US assets would trigger severe economic and military retaliation.

Central Command emphasized its readiness to destroy Iranian naval vessels if Tehran carries out further aggressive maritime actions. Additionally, American officials threatened possible action against Iran’s commercial oil tanker fleet if regional hostilities continue near critical shipping routes.

The growing military escalation could destabilize commercial shipping routes that transport vital energy supplies through the Persian Gulf. Consequently, international maritime insurers and regional shipping operators continue monitoring the increasingly volatile security situation.

The ongoing naval confrontation highlights rising geopolitical risks across strategic waterways and international trade corridors. Moving forward, both countries are expected to maintain heightened military readiness as tensions continue across the region.
