Four outstanding Persian children’s books have successfully joined the prestigious White Ravens catalogue. Compiled annually by the International Youth Library in Munich, the catalogue features over two hundred international titles.Furthermore, the selected Iranian works explore universal human themes including identity, displacement, migration, and peaceful conflict resolution. Consequently, this remarkable recognition highlights the growing global influence and artistic depth of contemporary Persian literature.
Among the selected works, Farhad Hasanzadeh’s picture book addresses themes of migration and unexpected friendship. Illustrated by Haleh Ghorbani, the story follows two young girls navigating diverse cultural backgrounds after swapping luggage. Additionally, renowned poet Mohammad-Reza Shafiei Kadkani earned recognition for his emotionally resonant poetry collection. Illustrated by Hoda Hadadi, the concise poems offer young readers deep reflections on nature, love, and homeland.
The remaining selections address pressing social issues through creative storytelling techniques and expressive visual arts. Author Mehdi Hejvani and illustrator Ghazaleh Bigdelou depict a refugee child finding hope inside displaced person camps. Meanwhile, Ali-Asghar Seidabadi presents a thoughtful fable about neighboring communities resolving ideological disputes through mutual understanding.
