Iranian women athletes achieved historic success by winning two rowing gold medals at the 2026 Asian Games. The national delegation also collected three silver medals and two bronze medals across several rowing events. Fatemeh Mojallal made sports history by securing Iran’s first individual women’s rowing gold at the tournament. Consequently, her breakthrough victory highlights significant athletic growth and development for female competitors representing the nation.
Mojallal completed the women’s lightweight single sculls final at the Nagaragawa International Regatta Course in Japan.She finished first with an official time of seven minutes and twenty-four point fifty-seven seconds. Meanwhile, Hong Kong athlete Winnie Hung took silver, and Thailand’s Parisa Chaempudsa earned bronze behind Mojallal. Subsequently, Mojallal credited two full years of rigorous training camps for her historic sporting achievement.
Adding to the national medal tally, Kimia Zarei and Zeinab Norouzi delivered another gold medal victory. The talented pair won the women’s lightweight double sculls final in six minutes and fifty-three seconds. Furthermore, the team finished more than five seconds ahead of rival competitors from Hong Kong. Additionally, Iranian rowers secured silver medals in both the double sculls and women’s four competitions.
The historic victories strengthen Iran’s overall position and medal standing at the continental athletic competition.
