Air pollution is rising sharply in several Iranian cities. Tehran, Isfahan, and Mashhad are seeing the worst conditions. The high air pollution threatens public health. In Tehran, the average air quality index reached 132 over the past 24 hours. This level is unhealthy for sensitive groups. The current real-time index is 125, showing conditions remain unsafe for children, the elderly, and people with lung problems.

The air quality index has five levels. Zero to 50 is clean air, 51 to 100 is healthy, 101 to 150 is unhealthy for sensitive groups, 151 to 200 is unhealthy for everyone, and above 200 is very unhealthy or dangerous. Since the beginning of this year, Tehran only had six clean-air days. More than 100 days were unhealthy for sensitive groups.

In Isfahan, the situation is worse. The city’s air quality index reached 164, which is unhealthy for everyone. Authorities warn that air pollution may rise further in some areas. If the sources of pollution are not controlled, conditions could reach dangerous levels. Mashhad also faces unhealthy air. The current index is 121, unhealthy for sensitive groups. Some neighborhoods, like Nakhresi, Vahdat, and Taqiabad, are in red-alert conditions, unhealthy for all residents.

Other provinces also report high pollution. In Khuzestan, cities like Karun and Shadgan show red levels. Cities such as Ahvaz, Mahshahr, and Abadan are in unhealthy ranges for all residents. The Ministry of Health warns that air pollution can increase the spread of influenza by at least ten times. People should limit outdoor activities and wear masks if needed.

The Meteorological Organization predicts rain, snow, and strong winds in 17 provinces from December 17 to 19. These weather changes could worsen air quality in some areas. Authorities advise drivers to use winter tires and avoid traveling in dangerous weather. Rescue teams are on high alert to respond to emergencies.

Residents should stay informed about local air pollution levels. Air pollution can cause severe health problems, especially for children, the elderly, and people with chronic illnesses. People should avoid outdoor activities during peak pollution times. Air pollution continues to rise in Iranian cities. Authorities warn that this problem will persist for several days. Everyone must take precautions to reduce health risks.
