Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to US President Donald Trump’s curiosity about Iran’s resistance to American pressure. In a social media post, Araghchi said Iran will not give in to threats. “Curious to know why we do not capitulate? Because we are IRANIAN,” he wrote. The statement emphasized the country’s determination and pride.

The response came after US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff said Trump had asked why Iran has not “capitulated” despite US naval forces in the region. “The president asked me that this morning,” Witkoff said in an interview. “I don’t want to use the word frustrated… he knows he has alternatives, but he is curious why they haven’t… I don’t want to use the word capitulated, but why they haven’t capitulated.”

Araghchi’s message highlights Iran’s firm stance. He said the country’s resistance is rooted in its history and identity. Tehran will continue to defend its sovereignty. Tensions between the United States and Iran remain high. Washington has deployed naval forces and issued warnings about Iran’s military and nuclear activities. Despite this, Iran insists it will not be intimidated.

Analysts say Araghchi’s remarks reflect Iran’s long-standing policy of firmness in foreign relations. Tehran responds firmly to threats but remains open to diplomacy under the right conditions. Observers also note that Trump’s curiosity shows Washington recognizes Tehran’s resilience. Araghchi’s direct reply sends a clear message to domestic and international audiences.

This statement is part of Iran’s effort to assert its independence and resist what Tehran sees as external pressure. It shows the government’s determination to defend its political choices and policies, even under economic, diplomatic, or military pressure. By emphasizing its refusal to yield, Tehran reinforces national pride and self-reliance, signaling that it will protect its sovereignty and interests rather than give in to outside demands.
