Four newly appointed foreign ambassadors officially presented copies of their credentials to Iranian officials on Monday. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi welcomed the incoming diplomats during a formal ceremony at the Foreign Ministry headquarters. Consequently, this diplomatic development strengthens bilateral relations across South Asia, the Middle East, and Western Europe.

Pakistani envoy Imran Ahmed Siddiqui joined the new diplomatic corps to represent his country in Tehran. Siddiqui previously managed diplomatic affairs in Bangladesh while gaining significant experience in United Nations operations. Furthermore, Islamabad has issued high-level directives to resolve trade bottlenecks along the two countries’ shared border.

Yaser Abdul-Zahra al-Hajjaj assumed his duties as Iraq’s new ambassador to Tehran. In addition, al-Hajjaj previously served as a cultural attaché before receiving this important diplomatic appointment. His arrival comes just ahead of an official visit by the Iraqi prime minister later this week.

Professor Fazeeha Azmi made history as Sri Lanka’s first female ambassador to Iran. Therefore, the former geography professor outlined plans to expand cooperation in trade, education, and other sectors. Moreover, her broader strategy focuses on pharmaceuticals while encouraging increased Iranian tourism to Sri Lanka.

Aidan Cronin completed the group of newly appointed diplomats by presenting his credentials on behalf of the Irish government. Indeed, Dublin recently decided to fully restore diplomatic representation after a pause of more than a decade. Consequently, the appointment of a resident ambassador marks an important milestone in strengthening relations between Ireland and Iran.
