Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf strongly criticized Australia’s recent actions targeting the IRGC influence. He called the move unjustified and politically motivated. During Sunday’s parliamentary session, Ghalibaf said Australia’s decision to blacklist the IRGC will not weaken its regional power. Moreover, he described the move as an attempt to appease Israel and divert attention from ongoing violence in Gaza.

Ghalibaf emphasized that the IRGC originates from the Iranian people. Furthermore, he noted that the force has played a central role in countering terrorism across West Asia. He argued that baseless accusations cannot diminish the IRGC influence or its operational capabilities. The Iranian Foreign Ministry also issued a statement condemning Australia’s decision. It described the designation of the IRGC as a dangerous and criminal act. Additionally, officials claimed the move violates international legal norms and undermines national sovereignty.

The ministry criticized some Australian politicians for supporting what it called a “sinister policy” aligned with Israeli interests. Consequently, it warned that such actions carry international responsibility and could strain diplomatic relations further. Analysts say the designation reflects a growing pattern of countries aligning their foreign policies with Israel’s regional agenda. They also note that Australia’s move could complicate trade, security cooperation, and diplomatic interactions with Iran.

Ghalibaf highlighted that Iran will continue defending its interests and regional allies. He stressed that Australia’s attempt to challenge the IRGC influence is unlikely to succeed. Experts suggest that ongoing tensions may impact international negotiations and regional security dynamics. Meanwhile, observers believe Iran might respond diplomatically or economically to counter perceived hostility.

In recent years, the IRGC has maintained a prominent role in Iran’s military and economic sectors. Its involvement in regional conflicts and anti-terror operations has consequently reinforced its strategic importance. Looking ahead, Iran’s leadership signals it will monitor Australia’s actions closely. Therefore, it will coordinate responses to protect national interests. The situation underscores broader geopolitical challenges and the complex interplay of global alliances.
