The prestigious International 100-Second Film Festival has officially selected 170 short films for its upcoming 15th competitive edition. Organizers will screen the selected films in the main halls of the Art Bureau in Tehran.
Public screenings will take place from September 15 to September 18. The official selection includes 36 national films and 29 international productions.
The selection committee also chose 105 specialized productions for the prominent For Homeland category. Meanwhile, international competitors include Nao Esquece by Lucas Eduardo and Point of View by Belal Ashur.
Director Mohammad Mehdi Qasemi will present his international entry, The Second that Stopped. Meanwhile, Iranian directors Ebrahim Moradi, Saeid Sajedi, and Yasin Pourazizi will compete in the national section.
Iranian filmmakers Ali Rostamabadi and Hanieh Sadeqi earned official selections in the national competition. Director Zeinab Zamanian and filmmaker Mohaddeseh Vahidi will headline the specialized For Homeland category.
Additionally, directors Ali Masoudi and Bahman Rezai secured official screening spots in the same category. Festival director Mohaddeseh Pirhadi said the upcoming event will focus on three main thematic pillars.
These themes include Battle for the Future, Children of the World, and Homeland. The festival maintains a strict format, requiring participating filmmakers to tell complete stories within 100 seconds.
Creators must therefore deliver compelling and emotionally powerful narratives within an extremely limited timeframe. Consequently, the festival has become a distinctive platform for discovering emerging filmmaking talent from Iran and around the world.
The event demonstrates how filmmakers can communicate powerful emotions and meaningful stories within just a few seconds. Ultimately, the international gathering will bring together diverse perspectives while highlighting shared human experiences, struggles, and hopes.
