According to a statement posted on X, Iranian officials said U.S. forces targeted the Chabahar Maritime Surveillance Tower on June 16. Tehran says the military campaign began on February 28. Officials stated that the tower supported maritime safety, vessel navigation, and coastal monitoring. They insisted the facility did not serve military operations and instead protected commercial shipping and maritime safety.
Iranian authorities also argued that the tower’s destruction reflected a broader pattern of attacks on civilian infrastructure.
