Major General Amir Hatami, Commander-in-Chief of the Army of the Islamic Republic of Iran, said the country’s armed forces play a crucial role in today’s changing security environment. He emphasized that the Army is ready to face hybrid warfare and strategic pressures. Speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Army Command and Staff College, Hatami congratulated the new graduates and highlighted the evolving security challenges facing Iran. He stressed that the country will continue to defend its independence, territorial integrity, and political system.

Hatami pointed to recent hostile actions targeting Iran and its system, noting that such efforts have repeatedly failed. He said these threats increase the responsibility of the Army to protect the nation. Rejecting claims that Iran’s enemies are invincible, Hatami referred to past conflicts in Vietnam, Afghanistan, and Iraq, saying foreign forces often enter with threats but eventually withdraw in defeat.

He described current dangers as part of a “hybrid war” that includes political, economic, social, military, psychological, and cognitive dimensions. According to Hatami, the key to confronting these threats is knowledge of the enemy’s plans and objectives. He said resistance comes from correct understanding, strategic insight, and awareness of mission and command guidance.

Hatami also warned against a strategy of “strategic attrition,” where adversaries try to weaken Iran gradually through continuous pressure. Despite this, he expressed confidence that such strategies will fail. Concluding his speech, the Army chief reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said the armed forces are prepared to protect the country “to the last breath” and remain devoted to the legacy of martyrs and national defense.
