Iran defenses have significantly improved since the June war, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. He made these remarks at the international conference “International Law Under Assault: Aggression and Defense” in Tehran. Araghchi emphasized that the country now stands fully prepared to respond if conflict arises again.
The minister explained that Iran continues to prioritize diplomacy and peaceful solutions in regional matters. He noted, however, that the country also maintains strong deterrent capabilities to protect its sovereignty. “While some choose force and aggression, Iran has chosen dialogue and diplomacy,” he stated.
Araghchi reviewed the recent 12-day conflict, describing it as a defensive response to attacks by the United States and Israel. He highlighted that Iran acted quickly, mobilizing its forces to repel the aggressors. “Their initial demand was unconditional surrender. By the twelfth day, they sought an immediate ceasefire,” he said.
Since June 13, 2025, Iran defenses have become far more resilient. Araghchi revealed that while Israeli jets crossed Iranian airspace, Iranian missiles struck precisely in Israeli-occupied territories. He added that Iranian missile operations proved powerful enough to force Israel to seek a ceasefire.
The minister also discussed the nation’s nuclear program, affirming its survival despite attacks. “Their goal was to destroy our nuclear technology, but our facilities remain operational. Our national cohesion and will have grown stronger,” he explained. Araghchi stressed that these lessons have enhanced Iran’s ability to deter future threats effectively.
Iran has faced international sanctions for decades, yet the country’s resilience has not wavered. The June war tested Iran defenses, and the experience made the nation more united. Araghchi highlighted that the people’s support for the government has strengthened, further reinforcing national security.
During the 12-day conflict, Israeli aggression caused significant casualties, including civilians, military commanders, and scientists. The United States also targeted Iranian nuclear sites, violating international law. In response, Iran conducted retaliatory strikes on strategic locations and key military installations, including the Al-Udeid base in Qatar.
By June 24, Iran successfully halted the aggression through coordinated military operations. Araghchi concluded that Iran defenses now serve as the most effective deterrent against potential future conflicts. He emphasized that readiness and national unity remain central to Iran’s strategy for safeguarding the country.
