Iran achieves a new milestone in natural gas production, reaching record daily processing levels. The National Iranian Gas Company reported increased natural gas deliveries to households, industries, and power plants. Officials said the rise reflects stronger management and infrastructure upgrades across the energy sector. The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company, Saeed Tavakkoli, highlighted that the company supplied a record 882 million cubic meters of natural gas to the national grid. This achievement shows the country’s capacity to meet growing demand efficiently. Tavakkoli also noted that power plants received a historic daily supply of 162.1 million cubic meters.
Since the beginning of the year, total gas delivered to power plants has risen by over 3 billion cubic meters. Meanwhile, industrial sectors, including cement and steel production, have consumed more than 1.5 billion cubic meters. These figures illustrate how natural gas supports Iran’s critical energy and manufacturing sectors simultaneously. Household consumption remains a significant portion of demand. Recent reports indicated that homes, businesses, and small industries together used 615 million cubic meters of gas in a single day. This accounted for nearly three-quarters of total national demand, emphasizing how much residents rely on natural gas for heating and cooking.
Iran has successfully avoided winter power cuts this season, a situation that previously forced industries to reduce gas usage. Experts credit improved production capacity and strategic supply management for maintaining uninterrupted energy distribution. Iran ranks as the fourth-largest consumer of natural gas globally, following the United States, Russia, and China. Peak winter demand can approach 900 million cubic meters per day during extreme cold spells. The country also holds the third-largest production capacity worldwide, producing nearly one billion cubic meters of unprocessed gas daily.
Energy analysts suggest that the current expansion strengthens Iran’s energy security. Reliable gas supplies support industrial growth and ensure steady electricity generation. Officials are also exploring further upgrades to processing infrastructure to maintain high levels of supply throughout the year. With rising domestic and industrial demand, the record natural gas supply marks a critical achievement for Iran’s energy sector. Authorities plan to continue expanding capacity and optimizing distribution to meet future consumption needs efficiently.
