Iran tea exports increased by 48% during the first eight months of the current Iranian calendar year. Officials attribute this growth to strong demand and proactive measures supporting domestic growers. The rise underscores Iran’s expanding presence in international tea markets.

Habib Jahansaz, head of the Iran Tea Organization, reported that exporters shipped about 9.8 million tons of high-quality tea between March 21 and November 22, 2025. This surge marks a significant improvement over last year.

Jahansaz described multiple steps to boost production and help tea farmers. He said, “Through persistent follow-ups and careful planning, we took significant actions to support farmers across the country.” These steps include financial aid, technical guidance, and stricter quality checks.

He also noted that exporters earned $12 million from tea sales during the same period. The figure demonstrates Iran tea exports’ growing competitiveness and the international market’s interest in Iranian products. To protect local producers, authorities introduced policies to reduce tea imports. Jahansaz emphasized that these measures ensure domestic growers remain competitive.

Industry experts point out that Iran tea exports benefit from rising global demand for premium teas. They add that continued support for farmers and investments in production can strengthen Iran’s market share. Analysts also expect that higher exports will improve rural incomes and encourage sustainable farming practices.

Looking ahead, the Iran Tea Organization plans to expand market access, modernize processing facilities, and maintain strict quality standards. Jahansaz confirmed that government support and proactive policies will continue driving export growth.

With these actions, Iran tea exports should maintain their upward trend, supporting both the domestic economy and international trade. The growth underscores the value of strategic planning, local production, and market diversification.
