The Iranian government has announced a significant adjustment to national fuel pricing policies. Officials confirmed that the third-tier gasoline price will increase to 10,000 Tomans per liter starting Tuesday. The policy aims to manage excessive fuel consumption while supporting public welfare programs. Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani announced the changes during a recent press briefing.

Under the updated framework, basic monthly quotas will remain unchanged for standard vehicle owners nationwide. Motorists will still receive 60 liters at 1,500 Tomans per liter and 50 liters at 3,000 Tomans per liter. Therefore, standard consumers will face no additional costs during routine daily driving. Meanwhile, the higher tariff will apply only when drivers use station service cards beyond their allocated quotas.

Mohajerani emphasized that all revenue generated from the price adjustment will directly support public welfare programs. Industry officials defended the measure, stating that most citizens will remain unaffected. Specifically, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company said that 85 percent of the population would avoid additional costs. Furthermore, managing director Mohammad Sadegh Azimifar outlined further administrative measures during a recent television interview.

Alongside the fuel policy changes, authorities introduced additional energy conservation guidelines for public sector managers. Officials proposed that government directors commute without personal vehicles at least one day each week. Consequently, the initiative encourages public officials to demonstrate their commitment to reducing urban traffic congestion and national energy consumption.

Economic experts expect mixed public reactions to the new fuel pricing system. Citizens have expressed concerns about inflation risks linked to transportation costs and their impact on local markets. Nevertheless, administration officials insist that targeted revenue distribution will help protect vulnerable households from severe economic pressures. Ultimately, the new pricing structure represents a broader government effort to rationalize domestic energy consumption while supporting public welfare.
