Iran war escalation continues to deepen as the United States signals plans to expand military operations across the region. U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington is increasing its military activity rather than slowing it down.

Hegseth said the United States is accelerating operations against Iranian military targets. He also confirmed that additional U.S. military assets are moving into the region. The deployments aim to strengthen operations already underway alongside Israeli forces.

The defense secretary described the current campaign as only the early phase of the conflict. His remarks highlight growing concerns about a prolonged escalation of the Iran war with wider regional consequences.

Military activity has already spread across several strategic areas. Reports indicate that fighting and military operations now affect locations from Turkey to Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Israeli forces continue airstrikes in Tehran and parts of Lebanon.

Hegseth also revealed that a U.S. naval attack recently destroyed an Iranian warship. According to defense officials, a U.S. torpedo struck and sank the vessel in the Indian Ocean. The operation marked a significant naval engagement in the ongoing Iran war escalation.

At the same time, Iran faces political and social disruption following the reported death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iranian authorities postponed a planned three-day funeral ceremony due to the ongoing military situation.

Civilian casualties inside Iran have also increased during the fighting. A U.S.-based monitoring organization reports that more than 1,000 civilians have died since the conflict began. Among the victims, the group says more than 180 were children.

The United States has also suffered battlefield losses. Officials confirmed that six American service members have died since the start of the campaign. These casualties highlight the rising risks of deeper involvement.

Meanwhile, Israeli officials continue to emphasize concerns over Iran’s nuclear program. Intelligence assessments suggested Iran could have reached weapons-grade uranium levels within weeks under certain conditions. Analysts believe enrichment levels could have approached 90 percent purity.

However, Israeli intelligence officials also say Iran’s nuclear weapons development remains incomplete. According to their assessment, the country’s weaponization program still faces technical hurdles before producing a functional nuclear bomb.

Security analysts say the Iran war escalation reflects a major shift in regional military dynamics. Direct U.S. military involvement dramatically raises the stakes compared with previous proxy conflicts.

Energy markets, global shipping routes, and diplomatic relations may also face increasing pressure. The Middle East remains central to global oil supply chains and maritime trade corridors.

Diplomats now face a growing urgency to prevent further expansion of the conflict. However, military operations on multiple fronts suggest tensions may intensify before any negotiations begin. Looking ahead, defense officials expect additional troop deployments and naval patrols in strategic waters. As a result, the Iran war escalation may continue shaping global security discussions in the coming weeks.
