Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi announced that Tehran awaits an official response from Washington regarding ongoing maritime negotiations. Speaking to diplomatic correspondents, Araghchi confirmed that Iran had submitted specific conditions through international diplomatic intermediaries. Furthermore, he emphasized that Iranian negotiators would strictly maintain their established conditions for reopening the vital shipping corridor. Consequently, this formal declaration underlines high-stakes diplomatic maneuvering surrounding global energy transit through the critical Middle Eastern waterway.

According to Araghchi, Iranian officials had previously observed initial public reactions from U.S. President Donald Trump. However, formal diplomatic channels had not yet delivered a definitive response from the American administration. During high-level meetings in New York, Iranian representatives transmitted their proposal to regional mediators for review. Therefore, Tehran intends to delay strategic decisions until international intermediaries deliver an official written assessment.

The maritime standoff centers on access to the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial chokepoint for global oil shipping. Previously, Iranian officials submitted a structured seven-day operational plan through Qatari diplomatic channels to resolve the crisis. That initial proposal outlined specific steps toward restoring normal commercial navigation if Washington satisfied Iran’s core demands. However, public statements from American leadership indicated an immediate rejection of those initial framework proposals.

Despite initial setbacks, diplomatic representatives continue using third-party intermediaries to keep essential communication lines functional. Global financial markets and energy analysts closely track these high-level discussions due to potential commercial trade disruptions. Furthermore, international shipping firms remain deeply concerned about ongoing navigation security risks throughout the Persian Gulf. Moving forward, upcoming diplomatic responses from Washington will determine whether maritime transit stabilizes or encounters further operational delays.
