Iranian mountaineer Abolfazl Gozali goes missing after successfully reaching the summit of Makalu. Gozali goes missing as rescue teams scramble to locate him in the dangerous terrain. The disappearance raises concerns about the challenges climbers face on high-altitude peaks. Four climbers reached Makalu’s summit, including expedition leader Sanu Sherpa and his team members. Gozali, the only Iranian in the group, climbed alongside the Sherpas and stood at the top of the mountain. After summiting, the group began their descent. Unfortunately, one of the Sherpas fell during the return, forcing the others to assist him. At that point, Gozali went ahead alone and disappeared from view.

Rescue teams immediately entered the area to search for Gozali. They combed through the treacherous slopes but found no trace of him. Authorities emphasized that climbers and supporting staff usually remain in the area for a week when someone goes missing. Despite following this protocol, Gozali has yet to be located, increasing fears for his safety. Makalu ranks as the third most difficult eight-thousand-meter peak in the world. Its extreme weather, steep slopes, and icy ridges make it one of the most dangerous mountains for mountaineers. Experts warn that descending alone in such conditions can quickly turn life-threatening.

The Iran Federation of Mountaineering continues to monitor the situation closely. They confirmed that the search efforts covered all likely routes and areas where Gozali could have gone missing. Rescue supervisors noted that while teams performed thorough checks, the harsh environment significantly limited their progress. Gozali goes missing on Makalu highlights the extreme risks climbers face on Himalayan peaks. Authorities urge climbers to maintain communication and travel in groups whenever possible. Safety precautions, including experienced guides and proper equipment, remain essential.

Despite the ongoing search, there is no confirmation of Gozali’s whereabouts. Friends, family, and mountaineering officials continue to hope for his safe return. Meanwhile, the mountaineering community emphasizes the need for increased awareness of high-altitude dangers. Gozali goes missing on this expedition reminds the world of the unforgiving nature of the mountains. Each year, even experienced climbers face life-threatening situations on peaks like Makalu. Authorities continue coordinating search strategies to cover all possible areas.
