Iran U.S. talks remain a central issue in regional diplomacy. Iran clarified it has held no direct negotiations with the U.S. However, officials confirmed indirect messages arrived through mediators. This position highlights ongoing uncertainty around diplomatic engagement. On Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei addressed reporters during a weekly briefing. He said global reactions show limited trust in U.S. diplomatic claims. He also noted inconsistencies in Washington’s public messaging.

Baghaei stressed that Iran maintains a consistent negotiation stance. In contrast, he said the U.S. often shifts positions. He added that proposals presented to Iran included unrealistic demands. These demands, he argued, complicate meaningful progress. Meanwhile, Iran declined participation in a regional meeting in Islamabad. The meeting was hosted by Shehbaz Sharif. Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt attended. Iran instead emphasized balanced responsibility in regional security discussions.

In addition, Baghaei urged neighboring countries to respect international obligations. He warned against allowing foreign forces to use regional territory for attacks. He framed Iran’s defensive actions as lawful and necessary responses. Tensions have increased since late February. Military actions involving the U.S. and Israel targeted multiple sites in Iran. These developments intensified geopolitical risks across West Asia. Iran responded with missile and drone operations shortly afterward.

At the same time, nuclear infrastructure incidents raised further concerns. The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran reported a strike on the Bushehr facility. Officials stated that no significant damage occurred. However, repeated incidents increased scrutiny of nuclear site protections. Iran also reported attacks on facilities in Arak and Ardakan. Officials described these locations as peaceful nuclear sites. They argued such actions violate international regulations. These claims added pressure on global oversight institutions.

Baghaei criticized Rafael Grossi for his recent statements. He argued that the agency’s approach lacks neutrality. According to Iran, recent reports have become politically influenced. Moreover, Grossi warned that continued conflict could impact Iran’s nuclear program. He emphasized the risks of escalation. However, Iran maintains that its program remains peaceful. Iran U.S. talks also intersect with wider geopolitical dynamics.

Baghaei rejected attempts to link Ukraine developments with regional tensions. He called such comparisons misleading. He also responded to comments by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Baghaei urged regional countries to act cautiously. He warned against expanding conflicts through external partnerships. Looking ahead, Iran U.S. talks will likely remain indirect. Diplomatic channels may continue through intermediaries. However, trust deficits could slow progress.
