Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targeted a major military installation hosting U.S. forces in Jordan on Tuesday night. Iranian defense officials said they launched several ballistic missiles toward Camp Titin, located near the strategic Gulf of Aqaba. The reported attack represents a significant escalation in direct military confrontation between Iran and the United States.
The IRGC said the missile barrage caused severe structural damage to the military installation. Iranian officials also claimed that the attack damaged several U.S. military helicopters and operational command facilities. Iranian forces launched the retaliation shortly after American aircraft conducted extensive airstrikes across southern Iran.
Iranian military officials separately claimed that their air defense units shot down a U.S. MQ-9 drone. Iranian commanders said recent Western military operations would lead to tighter security measures around the Strait of Hormuz. They also warned that foreign intervention would strengthen Iran’s resolve to counter hostile forces in the region.
Widespread U.S. airstrikes preceded the Iranian retaliation and hit military and civilian areas across southern Iran. Iranian domestic media reported civilian casualties following an aerial bombardment near Kuhestak. Local officials said an American airstrike struck a residential building in Sirik during a reported wedding celebration.
The Kuhestak attack reportedly killed at least four civilians, including a young child, and injured approximately 50 other attendees. Emergency responders transported the injured survivors to regional medical facilities for urgent treatment. Iranian authorities condemned the reported civilian casualties and criticized the U.S. military operations.
Growing cross-border military exchanges now threaten energy transportation routes and economic stability across the Middle East. Energy analysts warn that continued fighting near the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt maritime shipping. International observers continue to monitor the conflict and assess whether Iran and the United States will launch additional retaliatory strikes across the region.
