Iranian officials have warned regional neighbors against supporting new U.S. aviation restrictions targeting Iranian passenger carriers. Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Mohsen Rezaei addressed the issue on Iranian state television.
Rezaei cautioned neighboring countries against cooperating with the newly implemented American sanctions on Iran’s commercial aviation sector. He stated that Iran would not tolerate neighboring airports continuing normal operations while Iranian flights face restrictions.
The warning follows the implementation of broader aviation sanctions aimed at isolating Iran’s commercial aviation sector. Several international routes were canceled following the enforcement of the new financial and operational restrictions. However, some neighboring countries continue to allow Iranian commercial aircraft to land at their international airports.
Rezaei also outlined Iran’s position regarding recent diplomatic contacts in New York. He described discussions held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly as the presentation of formal conditions rather than conventional policy negotiations.
According to Rezaei, Iranian officials communicated specific demands through international intermediaries. Iranian leadership has established seven conditions before considering any future changes to maritime access through the Strait of Hormuz.
The Supreme National Security Council recently reached a unified position on Iran’s foreign policy conditions. President Masoud Pezeshkian convened a strategic meeting before the Iranian delegation traveled to New York.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi was instructed to present these conditions during meetings with foreign delegations. Iranian officials maintain that regional commercial transportation should be based on reciprocal access and compliance across different sectors.
