Iranian actor and former football player Pejman Jamshidi received a major legal update after his lawyer announced that the court cleared him of the most serious accusation in his case. However, his legal team said another ruling involving a disciplinary punishment remains.
Kambez Borjas, one of Jamshidi’s lawyers, said the court dismissed the accusation of forced sexual assault against his client. He added that the remaining decision relates to an allegation of an unlawful relationship.
According to Borjas, the court issued its final ruling for Jamshidi. He explained that the only remaining punishment involves 90 lashes under a discretionary sentence.
The case attracted major public attention after authorities arrested Jamshidi following a complaint last year. Later, officials released him on bail, and reports about his departure from Iran and return increased public interest.

Jamshidi returned to public attention after attending the funeral ceremony of Iranian actor Akbar Abdi.
