Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held high-level telephone talks on Tuesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The diplomatic dialogue focused primarily on regional security developments and ongoing multilateral efforts to stabilize maritime transit corridors across the Middle East. Consequently, the two leaders reviewed proposed frameworks for safely restoring commercial shipping operations through the Strait of Hormuz.

According to official ministerial statements, the talks covered ongoing negotiations between Iran and the Sultanate of Oman. Specifically, Tehran and Muscat are working to establish an interim joint maritime transit corridor through the strategic waterway. Additionally, the bilateral proposal includes a coordinated technical initiative to clear submerged explosive mines from critical shipping lanes.

Prime Minister Al Thani reaffirmed Qatar’s commitment to supporting regional diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the maritime crisis. He emphasized that safeguarding freedom of navigation remains essential to achieving comprehensive and long-term regional stability. Furthermore, Qatari officials expressed optimism that structured talks could pave the way for binding international peace agreements.

In a public statement following the call, Foreign Minister Araghchi reiterated Iran’s firm commitment to regional diplomacy. He noted that recent consultations with Omani, Qatari, and Pakistani delegations focused heavily on developing localized conflict-resolution mechanisms. Furthermore, Araghchi confirmed that technical discussions would continue to refine the proposed shipping corridor and future waterway-management frameworks.

These diplomatic efforts aim to reduce the severe economic disruptions caused by restricted commercial traffic through the Persian Gulf. International energy markets continue to closely monitor regional developments as technical working groups finalize transit-security protocols. Moving forward, neighboring states plan to maintain active diplomatic coordination to ensure lasting maritime security along vital global supply routes.
