Iranian traditional vocalists Ali and Mohammad Saeidi recently released their latest single, titled “Sar-e Dast-e Yarom.” The twin vocalists reimagined a classic Iranian folk piece through a modern musical arrangement. Furthermore, Mojtaba Abolqasempour arranged the new single, incorporating santur and contemporary electronic instruments.
The original composition is based on a traditional folk melody attributed to collector Hossein Kouhi Kermani. In addition, the piece reflects historical social changes that occurred when modern fashion trends first entered traditional Iranian communities. Consequently, the twin brothers expanded the vocal structure to make the traditional heritage accessible to contemporary listeners.
Born in Isfahan, the Saeidi brothers studied Persian classical vocal techniques and the radif repertoire under respected music masters. Their early mentors included prominent traditional musicians Mohammad-Taghi Saeidi, Mohammad Ali Kianinejad, and Fazlollah Shahzamani. Previously, the brothers collaborated with internationally recognized Iranian conductor Ali Rahbari on the “Persian Nightingales” orchestral project.
In recent years, the artists have developed specialized short-format musical releases tailored to modern audiences with limited time. Moving forward, the vocalists plan to release additional modern interpretations of regional folk compositions across digital platforms. Ultimately, their efforts aim to connect traditional Persian musical heritage with contemporary global audiences.
