President Donald Trump said negotiations with Iran are currently underway and described the talks as Tehran’s final opportunity to reach an agreement. His comments came during remarks to reporters at the White House, adding fresh attention to diplomatic efforts amid continuing regional tensions.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the discussions had begun at Iran’s request. He also argued that the current diplomatic process represents the last opportunity for Tehran to sign what he described as a favorable agreement.

The president maintained that communication between the two sides continues despite repeated public denials from Iranian officials. His latest remarks underscored the sharply different public narratives presented by Washington and Tehran regarding diplomatic engagement.

Earlier in the day, Trump criticized Iran’s political leadership in a post on his Truth Social platform. He accused Iranian officials of sending conflicting messages by allegedly requesting meetings while publicly denying that negotiations were taking place.

According to Trump’s statement, additional meetings had already been scheduled for the near future. However, Iranian officials have consistently rejected claims that direct negotiations with the United States are underway. Tehran has instead maintained that its diplomatic contacts remain limited to discussions involving Oman.

The conflicting statements have added uncertainty to expectations surrounding possible diplomatic progress. Consequently, analysts continue monitoring official announcements from both governments for signs of meaningful engagement or renewed disagreement.

Diplomatic relations between Washington and Tehran have remained strained over several major issues, including regional security, sanctions, and broader political disputes. Therefore, any indication of renewed dialogue attracts significant attention from governments, investors, and international markets.

Trump also turned his attention to domestic economic issues. On Monday, he urged American energy companies to reduce fuel prices immediately, arguing that lower gasoline costs would benefit consumers facing higher living expenses.

Fuel prices remain an important political issue ahead of the November midterm elections. Rising transportation and energy costs have increased pressure on household budgets while influencing broader inflation concerns across the United States.

Political observers note that economic conditions could play a significant role in shaping voter sentiment before the elections. Consequently, Republicans face growing pressure to demonstrate progress on inflation and consumer costs while seeking to maintain congressional support.

Energy markets also continue following developments involving Iran because diplomatic progress could influence sanctions, global crude supplies, and oil prices. As a result, traders remain sensitive to official statements from both Washington and Tehran.

Looking ahead, market participants and international observers will closely monitor whether additional diplomatic meetings take place in the coming weeks. They will also assess whether public rhetoric evolves into formal negotiations or whether disagreements continue to dominate relations between the two governments.
