Iranian rapper Mehrad Hidden joined a virtual singer created with artificial intelligence for a historic AI music duet. The performance featured Nava, an AI-generated female vocalist, performing the classic Persian song “Hamoomi.” The event highlights how AI is transforming music collaboration.

Hamoomi is a nostalgic Iranian track first recorded in the 1950s by singer Lili Ghanlou, also known as Ghazal. Its lyrics reflect the social atmosphere of Tehran at that time. The original composition was by Ibrahim Sorkhush, while the lyricist remains unknown. Early records listed it simply as a “local song.”

The collaboration was facilitated by Farbod Mehr, a multimedia artist and the creator of Nava. Mehr developed the AI singer using advanced generative tools that reproduce human-like vocals and visuals. He joined Mehrad Hidden in the performance, blending live rap with AI vocals to create a modern reinterpretation of Hamoomi.

Experts note that AI in music is a global trend. According to industry data, the AI music market is expected to grow by more than 20 percent annually over the next decade. Projects like this AI music duet show how artists can reach new audiences and experiment with sounds that were previously impossible to produce live.

The project also has cultural significance. Solo female singing faces restrictions in Iran, so creating an AI singer allows artists to experiment with vocal styles without legal barriers. The performance demonstrates how technology can expand artistic expression while respecting cultural sensitivities.

Farbod Mehr indicated plans to continue developing Nava for future collaborations. He envisions more projects where human performers and AI singers share the stage, creating innovative musical experiences.

As the music industry evolves, this AI music duet marks a milestone in combining heritage and technology. It shows that artificial intelligence can complement human creativity, bridging tradition and innovation for Iranian music and beyond.
