Iran exports EAEU recorded strong growth in the first eight months of the current Persian year. According to Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the country’s exports to EAEU reached $1.46 billion. This represents an 11 percent increase from the same period last year.

Export volumes also rose 10 percent to 3.888 million metric tons. Shipments to Russia grew 12 percent in value and 9 percent in volume. Exports to Belarus jumped over 50 percent year-on-year. Officials said the increase reflects stronger economic ties and trade agreements.

Iran imports from EAEU reached 5.5 million metric tons worth $3.217 billion during the same period. Volume fell 9 percent, but value rose 15 percent. Imports from Russia grew 13 percent in value, while shipments from Kazakhstan surged 84 percent. The growth follows a free trade agreement implemented in May. The deal gives Iran tariff-free access to almost 87 percent of exports to EAEU members. Before that, trade relied on a preferential arrangement signed in Armenia in 2017.

Iran also gained observer status in the EAEU at a Supreme Council meeting in Saint Petersburg last December. Officials said this status enhances Iran’s diplomatic and commercial engagement. Economic experts noted that rising trade with the EAEU helps Iran diversify export markets. Growth in agricultural, petrochemical, and industrial exports contributed to the increase. Analysts also expect further growth as new agreements and tariff reductions take effect.

Businesses in Iran are encouraged to explore new opportunities in EAEU markets. Expanded trade could strengthen bilateral relations, create jobs, and improve regional economic integration. The recent growth highlights Iran’s commitment to regional trade partnerships and global market integration. Officials said continued expansion could boost long-term economic stability.
