Iran strongly condemned the US embargo threat against Venezuela in a statement. Moreover, the Iranian Foreign Ministry criticized Washington’s attempts to block the country’s lawful oil exports. Consequently, it described these actions as a blatant violation of international law and global trade norms. The statement highlighted that the US embargo threat represents a policy of coercion and force. In addition, Tehran emphasized that threatening maritime blockades or interfering with commercial vessels constitutes illegal state behavior. Specifically, it called out any attempts to seize or obstruct ships as “state piracy” and robbery at sea.

Furthermore, Iran’s foreign ministry stressed that domestic US laws cannot justify these actions. Similarly, the ministry added that unilateral sanctions against Venezuela ignore the country’s sovereign rights. Therefore, officials insisted that Venezuela retains the right to defend itself against any external threats. The condemnation comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Caracas. Recently, the US has increased pressure on Venezuela through sanctions targeting its oil sector. Additionally, experts note that Venezuela holds the world’s largest proven oil reserves, making US actions particularly significant.

Consequently, Tehran called on the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and international governments to act. The ministry urged them to recognize the seriousness of the US embargo threat and hold Washington accountable for violating the UN Charter. Moreover, analysts suggest that Iran’s strong reaction aligns with its broader stance against unilateral coercive measures. The statement further warned that ignoring such confrontations could set a dangerous precedent. Therefore, inaction by global powers could normalize lawlessness in international relations. Indeed, the ministry emphasized that the consequences could destabilize global peace and maritime security.

Officials noted that the US embargo threat undermines freedom of navigation and the free flow of trade. Furthermore, Tehran argued that coercive tactics against a UN member state violate fundamental principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. As a result, analysts believe this dispute may intensify diplomatic rifts between Iran, Venezuela, and the United States. Looking ahead, Iran indicated it will continue advocating for multilateral responses. In particular, the ministry’s message emphasized diplomacy, international law, and protection of sovereign nations. Consequently, observers expect further statements from Tehran if Washington persists with coercive measures.
