Iran emphasized that Persian Gulf security can only be achieved through cooperation among regional countries. The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stressed that relying on local capacities is better than depending on outside powers. He said Persian Gulf security is crucial for peace and development in the region. Esmaeil Baqaei addressed the 6th International Persian Gulf Oceanography Conference in Iran’s southern port city of Bandar Abbas. He highlighted that the Persian Gulf is not just a waterway but also a key part of the history, culture, and identity of Iran and its neighbors.

Baqaei said lasting security in the Persian Gulf requires dialogue and trust among littoral states. He added that countries in the region can reduce tensions by focusing on their shared interests. Furthermore, he noted that mutual respect and following international rules will support economic and social growth. The Iranian official emphasized that external military or political interventions often increase instability. Instead, he encouraged coastal nations to strengthen regional cooperation to maintain peace and order. He said such steps would provide a more sustainable security framework.

Experts note that the Persian Gulf is vital for global energy supplies, handling a large percentage of oil exports. Consequently, any security threats directly impact global markets. Analysts argue that regional dialogue can reduce risks and ensure steady energy flow. Baqaei also mentioned that Iran has consistently promoted direct coordination with neighboring countries. He stressed that constructive diplomacy remains the most effective way to ensure security and foster development. He encouraged regional states to develop joint programs for monitoring, maritime safety, and environmental protection.

Moving forward, officials suggest that continued conferences and multilateral discussions will help build confidence among Persian Gulf countries. They also recommend sharing intelligence, conducting joint drills, and encouraging economic partnerships to strengthen trust. In conclusion, Persian Gulf security depends on cooperation, dialogue, and confidence-building among regional states. Iran calls on all littoral nations to prioritize native capabilities and avoid external interventions. This approach, officials say, will enhance stability, trade, and prosperity across the strategic waterway.
