Tehran summoned Germany’s ambassador to protest recent hostile measures taken by Berlin against the Islamic Republic. The Iranian Foreign Ministry expressed serious concern over actions that undermine bilateral relations and violate international norms. Axel Dittmann, Germany’s Ambassador to Iran, met with Alireza Yousefi, Director General for Western Europe Affairs at Iran’s Foreign Ministry. During the meeting, Yousefi formally conveyed Tehran’s strong protest regarding Germany’s latest positions. He emphasized that such actions deliberately damage the trust between the two countries.

Moreover, Yousefi criticized Germany for its anti-Iran policies. He highlighted Berlin’s support for individuals and groups that Tehran considers violent and terrorist. He added that these measures contradict international law and the United Nations Charter. Consequently, he warned that continued support for such elements could carry legal and diplomatic consequences for Germany. Yousefi further stressed that Germany’s repeated adversarial measures harm diplomatic relations. “These actions are unacceptable and go against fundamental norms of international relations,” he said. He urged the German government to reconsider its policies and take steps to restore constructive dialogue.

In response, Ambassador Dittmann acknowledged Iran’s concerns. He promised to relay Tehran’s protest to German authorities in Berlin. He also assured Iranian officials that he would communicate the seriousness of their concerns to the highest levels of the German government. Furthermore, Dittmann emphasized that Germany recognizes the importance of addressing the issues raised. The summoning occurs amid ongoing tensions between Europe and Iran over regional security and policy matters. Tehran frequently condemns foreign actions that interfere in its domestic affairs. Iranian officials explained that this protest aims to ensure Germany respects international law and refrains from supporting activities that could escalate instability in the region.

Importantly, officials stressed that the summoning does not intend to shut down diplomatic dialogue. Instead, it represents a formal effort to express disapproval and encourage corrective action. As a result, the move highlights broader strains in Iran-Europe relations. Experts note that such diplomatic engagements allow both sides to air grievances while keeping channels for negotiation open. Ultimately, this development signals Tehran’s insistence on adherence to international norms. Additionally, it underlines the continued sensitivity in Iran’s foreign relations, particularly with European countries it perceives as hostile.
