Iranian forces struck four advanced radar systems, severely weakening U.S. and Israeli missile defenses. Consequently, regional tensions have escalated. Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, confirmed that the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense units were destroyed. Specifically, the strikes targeted facilities in al-Rubah, al-Ruwais, al-Kharj, and Azraq. These advanced radar systems provided long-range detection and real-time intelligence for a joint U.S.-Israeli missile defense network.

Zolfaghari added that the attacks disrupted the enemy’s early warning capabilities. As a result, air-raid sirens now sound only when missiles hit occupied territories. He also emphasized that the operation demonstrated Iran’s ability to neutralize high-value defense assets. Moreover, the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps intercepted and destroyed an Israeli Hermes 900 drone over western Iran. The IRGC stated that the drone was tracked by Iran’s integrated air defense network before being shot down. This operation further highlights Iran’s investment in both defensive and offensive capabilities.

These strikes followed previous U.S. and Israeli attacks targeting Iranian leadership and military sites. In addition, Iran claims these attacks killed senior officials and over 1,000 civilians. Therefore, Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes against U.S. military bases in neighboring countries. Experts note that destroying advanced radar systems significantly weakens U.S. missile defense in the region. A military analyst also explained that these radar units are critical for detecting and intercepting missile threats. Consequently, the recent operations suggest Iran is focusing on countering technologically advanced military systems.

Furthermore, analysts warn that continued escalation could disrupt regional airspace and complicate defense coordination. Additionally, the strikes signal Iran’s readiness for precision attacks against high-value targets. Looking ahead, military observers expect further strategic strikes and countermeasures from both sides. Likewise, the durability of regional missile defense networks may depend on the rapid deployment of replacement systems. Therefore, officials on all sides are monitoring developments closely to prevent further escalation. Overall, the destruction of advanced radar systems and the downing of the Israeli drone show Iran’s growing operational capabilities. In addition, these events demonstrate the country’s willingness to retaliate against perceived threats.
